Hi there,

I JUST had my belts replaced and have noticed since then that my temperature gauge goes from the below half mark to the complete bottom, and bounces a bit when the car bounces, then when I shift, or speed up quickly, or break to a stop, it will go either back up to the normal rance, or if already at the normal range, it will drop to nothing. Is this gauge related to the belts in any way? Other than the wild movements of the gauge, the car seems to be running fine. It's a 97 Sportage 4x4. Help!! It's starting to get hot in this area and I want to be able to watch my temp! On a side note: I was using the AC, which was opperating normally. But I used my AC last week too and this didn't happen. It only seemed to start happening after getting my belts changed.

Hi there,

I suppose it could be the thermostat, but the gauge only has a wild change when the car jerk forward (Like taking off from a stop sign) or stops suddenly, or hits a pot hole or something like that- I was thinking maybe a loose connection of some sort, but wouldn't know where to begin to look for where the loose connection might be- any ideas? Thanks!!
