Does anyone know how to remove the radio in a 2002 sportage. i cant find anyone who will tell me. or where i can go online to see how to do it thank you any help is greatly apperciated.

It varies slightly from year to year but the basic process for removal is this:

Carefully pry the bezel off that surrounds the radio and HVAC controls. Use a screwdriver to pry it off...it should pop off. There MAY be one screw down towards the bottom.

Once the bezel is off the radio will come out easily. Remove the 4 screws and it should pull out.

thank you for your help the dealer told me i couldnt swap out the radio because the wiring harness is made only for a kia stock tape deck and nothing else would work with it. but i know you can swap it out but i couldnt figure out how to remove it but now i do.

Yes, you will need an adaptor kit or simply tap into the wiring.

The color code for the audio system from the 2000 electrical manual is as follows. The 2002 should be the same.

Blue/yellow: illumination
Black/yellow: +12 volt switched power
Light green/black: Memory
Black: Ground
Blue/red: LF speaker -
Green: LF speaker +
Brown: RF speaker -
Light green/yellow: RF speaker +
Blue/orange: LR speaker -
Green/yellow: LR speaker +
Green/red: RR speaker -
Yellow: RR speaker +
