Advice for my Sportage please!

I am having a 2000 sportage. And for no apparent reason the engine has gone too slow and sluggish. better if I ride a donkey cart. Sportage hasn’t given me any major troubles since last 4 years so I am not planning to trade it for something better. But yeah if there’s any good advice I can have on how can I increase the engine efficiency , help would be appreciated.

increase engine eficiency is one thing and I dont have a clue. Byt engine has gone to slow is an other and with manu options cheap or expensive

cheap as air filter - fuel filter - sparkplugs . expensive as clogged catalytic converter.
Is the Check engine light on?
If yes and you live in US go to an autozone have them take the reading of the codes for free I think, and then I can direct you to a site were you can find what they mean and deside.
