I have essentially taken over my dads old sporty and recently found it leaking. as i dont know a lot about cars, i had my friend take a look. he thinks its the oil filter housing adapter...he did one of those uv tests. how much would a part like that go for?
@ Aquanaut20, I called the Kia dealership and they said the actual Adapter is about $180, but in all his years of working he has never sold one. He felt it was just a few o-rings that need to be replaced.
Part #'s 0RF0323805, 0RF0323806 1995-2002 model years..
About $10.00 US for the o-rings, plus a new oil filter, if you remove prior to removing the oil filter adapter..
If you decide to do the repair ..
Plan on an afternoon to do, and consider removing the Battery, the EVAP canister & metal frame support, to gain better access for wrenching from the top side of the motor as part of the procedure..
