I picked up a 2001 sportage just replaced timing belt got everything back together, starts up fine replaced thermostat but I'm noticing no antifreeze flowing through upper radiator hose to thermostat housing.
The coolant flows from the thermostat housing -> into the top of the radiator, it starts flowing as the thermostat heats up, which in-turn pulls the valve (plate) down towards the motor..
Looks like this:

Upper radiator hose -> housing cover -> gasket -> top (hat, plate, jiggle pin) of thermostat visible, bottom of thermostat (frame & spring) are sitting inside the housing block.
