Default Crankshaft Pulley Holder

Hi Gang,

I have a 1997 Kia Sephia that I'm trying to remove the water pump to replace. I'm currently at a stand still because I need to remove the crankshaft pulley to remove the timing belt. Does anyone know where I can find the tool to hold the pulley in place so that I can remove the crankshaft pulley(I believe it is a cranshaft pulley holder)? Is there a specific kind that I need for a '97 Kia Sephia, and if so, does anyone know where I can find it? I've been looking on the interwebs, and there are all sorts of different kinds. Not sure if any old one will suffice.

Also, on a side note, since this is my first time doing this type of work (removing and replacing a water pump). Any other tips you have for removing this water pump would be helpful. I'm following the instructions I found on the Kia Tech Info website. Any other tips would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I installed a lightened crank pulley on my 99 without the tool. Takes a little thinking on how to get it to not move but is possible without it. If I remember right I wedged something between in down there and it came off. Make sure not to damage it though.
Liberally spray the bolt with pb blaster or the likes, let it sit to makes its way in there and the bolt should come off.

auto parts stores may have the tool. i know i have seen them on tool trucks that come to our dealership but not sure you'd want to pay their prices if you're only going to use it once. if you have access to an impact gun you wouldn't need to use a pulley tool but you would need to be careful not to strip out the threads in the crank.

Thanks for your help everyone! I WD-40'd the bolt and jammed the pulley with a screw driver. Got it off without breaking anything, yayy! Thanks again guys for your responses!
