Default Having problems with starting my car.

I am a owner of a KIA SEPHIA SLX 95 mod.

Recently i`ve been having some problems with getting my engine to start. When I twist my car key around I hear the engine, but it sounds like its just going around and around. I think the start engine might be broken. Any thoughts on that?

Anyhow, its pretty hard to find used KIA parts to my car here in Norway. I heard some rumors that KIA made these car with a Mazda engine. Is that true? If so, what used/part Mazda engine should I use if I want to use the parts in my car?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum.

When last was it serviced and how many miles has it got on the clock?

I would start by installing new NGK spark plugs gapped to 0.75mm , and a new fuel filter.

Thanks! I dont think its the fuel filter, because I get the car startet once in a while and then it runs great. I just have to be carefull that I dont turn it off at a stupid place .

My spark plugs are only two months old, so I dont think its them either.

What spark plugs, and what gap ? - these engines are sensitive to plug types and gap.

Howdy!

When you say that you can't turn it off in a stupid place, are you parking on hills, then rolling the car and popping the clutch to get it going?

If it's your starter, you can get a new one here in the states for about $110 if memory serves. I'm sure if you look on NAPA, CSK, or maybe even Amazon's website, you'll find someone who can ship to Norway, but I'll bet it ain't cheap. Had to change my starter not to long ago - it only took about an hour, no big deal.

My Kia is a '97 1.8 liter sephia and that particular motor is sourced from Mazda. You can look up Kias on Wikipedia to find engine source info. I'd be scared of a used starter myself - I really don't like the idea of being stranded.

Good luck bud!

Thanks!

I think I just have to buy a new starter. Its expencive, and it sucks to spend money on stuff like that. I just fixed my oil leaks and now this. Guess i`ll be better of buying this part in Norway.
