i have replaced the Fuel Filter when i did the tune up and replaced every filter on the car, air, transmission, fuel, and oil. as well as hoses, belts, thermostat, car, rotor, wires, plugs. and after that i replaced brakes, Transmission, and CV joint. also replaced TB with reman from Kia that came with new TP sensor, and idle air motor.
the Check Engine light FINALLY came on this morning on my way to work, i have never been so happy to see that stupid light.
i left my car accross the street to have the shop hook up there Diagnostic machine to it and see what it pulls up. well he is waving at me through the window to come look at it. be back in a few min.
well my upstream O2 sensor is fried. it is not sending any information to the computer. so i am going to replace it and considering all the fuel going through the system i am going to go ahead and replace the spark plugs again just to keep from having any other issues.
Let me know how that goes... My car just started dropping the RPMs to almost zero and fluctuating up and down. So I disconnected the ISC and now the car is running perfect.. This car is a pain in the Arss. By the way the ISC is black and is located on the throttle facing the firewall. It is connected with two screws.
Super Joe before you buy it I just wanted to let you know that you could get it on ebay for like $30 per O2 sensor... Just make sure to get the right one (that is based on how many wires just check on ebay)... I know how it is times are tough... Good luck let me know.
well with the discounts i have at several auto parts stores due to some 4x4 clubs i am apart of, i got it for 45 dollars
i got it installed last night but when doing so i broke my PCV valve so it would not idle so i did not find out till this morning, that it runs better but it idles WAY too high. i am going to carry the car accross the street at lunch to have him hook it up to the computer again to see what it says. i did also buy the spark plugs and replaced them as well as a new air filter (since it got a little oil in it due to the busted PCV valve)
Glad to hear that the car is running better. What I did to fix my idle was simple. Just losen the two screws on the (ISC) which is screwed to the throttle body until they are hand tight. Then slide it all the way down which should bring your throttle down. Then slightly tap it up until the car idles properly. I could not get my car to idle higher than 600 but maybe yours will idle at 750 which is where the car should idle. Do you know what could cause the idle to drop slightly almost like a missfire once in a while when the car is in neutral and idle? Hope this info helps. Oh one more thing check to see if the behind the buterfly it is not dirty if so I took of the throttle body and cleaned it. Good luck and let me know how it goes.
with the intermitent missfire check the spark plug wires, i had a bad one on my wifes car when i did the tune up on hers and when i would jiggle the wires while it was running it would miss. and in an old jeep i had, same issue it would shock the hell out of me.
Whats up Joe? Funny but when we are done with these cars they will be running better than a new one it feels like....lol.. Hey here is some info that I found that might be of interest to you. Check it out.
On the Kia Tech site I found out that some 96 Kia Sephias produced from Oct. 13, 1995 vin numbers (KNAFA125XT5241493)thru April 26, 1996 vin numbers (KNAFA125XT5260145) where the check engine light illuminates and one or more engine misfire Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) (P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303 or P0304) is stored in the OBD-II system diagnostic memory... Anyways here is the link if anybody might be having this problem.
