Default New To Forum - Mentor

Just saying "Hi" and thanks to those who have provided this forum which I have joined today. Vehicle is a Kia Mentor 1998 New Zealand new, same as 94-98 Sephia 1 apparently but with Mazda 1.5 B5 motor. Good service history and very clean. 79,000Kms with new timing belt. We are low mileage users so hopefully it will last a while.

Question - I'm aware of the KIAUSA site which has the repair manual. But that covers the DOHC motors. Anyone know of one which includes the B5 SOHC motor and which other Mazda vehicles used the B5. I'm thinking Mazda/Ford parts when needed in future may be cheaper than a Kia dealership. And wreckers too if necessary. Just thinking for future reference!

Thanks KIA. Wish it was 1.8 but the Mentor alias Sephia sold here in hatch form used the Mazda B5 motor till 1998. I think it used Kia's own from late 1998. The handbook says B5 and it looks like one of the Mazda 323 motors. Incidentally I have been watching for any signs of the dreaded dash curl-up but it seems fine. Must have been a bad run of plastic, though our climate is more temporate than Arizona. Cheers,
