97 Sephia Air Cleaner

I've had this 97 Sephia for a month, and I finally got around to checking the air cleaner. The air cleaner was, of course, dirty, but what freaked me out a bit was the chamber underneath the air cleaner was cramed with some kind of stuff that looked like lint. So I took it out. Just checking, but I assume lint-looking stuff is not *supposed* to be jam-packed in the air cleaner chamber, is it?

My guess is the previous owner had this car sitting idle for a number of weeks in his barn. Mice must have built a nest in the air cleaner chamber. As I said previously, I pulled that glop out of there and now have replaced the air cleaner. Car runs even better now.

As I said in the welcome/new members forum, I am amazed at the jump this 4 cyl 1.8L Sephia has. I haven't driven a 4 cyl car for about 25 years, and my memory of them is they about have the acceleration of a golf cart. My how times have changed.
