Tim p and ahlinj, your comments suggest that what I am experiencing is more a design fault than an actual fault. I am used to climate control that you set at say 20 degrees and forget it, summer or winter. On my Ceed I have to have it set at 15.5 to get anything approaching cold air (then not really satisfactory) and on hot days, set it to Lo because I hate hot cars.
I am going to have a word with the dealer to see what they say. Anyone else with A/C problems please contribute.

It will only generate cold air if the interior temperature is above the set level, and if its not massively above it will only produce cooled air.
