Hi & welcome to the forum

The climate control, if left to auto, controls not only the temperature but the air volume and distribution.

When you dictate which vents to use you will also need to set the fan speed as it will stay at the speed that the auto was controlling it at.

The AC does work continuously, cutting in % out as required when in auto.

If you were to select the screen defrost, you will notice the air speed increase, the AC will run (for dehumidification) and the screen vent will be selected, you will need to select the temperature.

With mine, I now leave the unit in Auto but I turn off the AC unless the outside temperature is high. o turn the AC off just press the AC button, this will leave just the auto light on.

Hope that explains it all....It is in the manual but it is not very clear.
