I have had two of this dome light diode go bad-the original and one replacement. I bought my second one and intended to get a heavy duty diode from the electronics store and wire that in using the new one as a polarity check. But in closely examining the factory electrical manual, showing the wiring scheme of the diode, I could not see why they use it. It seemed from the diagram that you could just short the connector and no negative effect would take place. So I did that. Everything works fine-the dome light comes on when it should, goes out when it should, dims to off after closing the door like it should and can be shut off or lit continuosly like it should. Nothing wierd happens. So you could say good by to this problem for good by just jumper wiring the sockets in the small connector where the diode goes.
