It's expensive to replace, so I live with it. No problem so far.
If I get ambitious, I mght try to locate a used one.
My mechanic has said trying to weld it won't work. It'll crack again.

Living with it may be cheap but it's not a very bright idea!

Exhust gases leaking from the crack in the header will seap into the cabin, one day you'll be driving on a long road trip the gasses will build up, you'll feel sleepy, fall asleep drive off the road hit a bus full of nuns and kill not only yourself but others! And since you knowingly drove with a defective vehicle, youre insurance company can wash their hands of you, you would be charged with negligible homicide if you killed another person, leaving you and your family ruined!

Or you could get it fixed correctly!

Yes it can be welded depending on where the crack is. And a used one should not run you over $50 from a wreakers yard, and take an afternoon to replace.
