Can anyone with recent experience with the Carny head gasket/cylinder liner problem advise how much luck has been had on claiming the replacement engine through warranty? What proportion has Kia been willing to pay?

I've got an July 03 (build date) Carnival that came out of warranty 3 months ago with 46,000km and has just been diagnosed as needing the replacement short engine. I would like to get a feel for what my out of pocket cost is going to be based on the experiance of others.

The Kia service dealer has passed the claim onto Kia Australia who in turn has sent it on to Korea for assessment. I am now waiting the 2 days to 4 weeks for a response.....

Does anyone know if the demise of Rover had an effect on the contribution Kia makes? I understand that the owners of earlier models were looked after reasonably well and I am concerned that the level of 'Good Will' may now have reduced with nowhere for Kia to pass the buck onto.
